Filipe Assuncào besøkte Galleri Koll for mange år siden og presenterte sine arbeider.
Det var et slikt øyeblikk da en gallerist forstår han har skutt en gullfugl! Vi sa straks ja til å representere ham og hans kunst i galleriet. Det har vi ikke angret på et øyeblikk! Fra dag èn har hans uttrykk betydd mye for vår profil. Her er det liv i overflod, representert ved gøyale figurer, både kjente og ukjente, satt sammen i en historie – en mulighet til fordypning, undring og begeistring. Kilden til kunstneren virker utømmelig!

Vi inviterer til en åpning – en fest – hvor du og dine venner kan få møte denne glitrende kunstneren. Det blir åpning og tale, enkel bevertning og musikk fra en profesjonell musiker for anledningen, men fremfor alt kunst for en rik opplevelse!

ARTIST STATEMENT

What I love most about being an artist is the ability to create and open windows into new worlds, while leaving a legacy that can endure for generations.

I believe that being an artist is both an immense privilege and a great responsibility. For this reason, I strive to maintain the highest standards and produce work that is both meaningful and consistent.

It is deeply rewarding to see people connect with and acquire my paintings. I am continually amazed by the diversity of those who are drawn to my work. Knowing that my art resonates with people from different backgrounds is both humbling and inspiring.

I especially value the emotions my work evokes and the dialogue it creates between the artwork and the viewer. That connection gives me the motivation and excitement to keep creating, exploring, and continuously improving as an artist.

BIO

Filipe Assuncao is a Portuguese painter who lives and works in Norway. He began painting at an early age and studied with renowned artists for many years, developing a strong foundation and exceptional technical skills in drawing and painting. He holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts, graduating with the highest classification of Excellent. Since 2012, he has been actively involved in art education, teaching visual arts and curating exhibitions.

A natural storyteller, Assunção works primarily within figurative painting. His inspiration comes from people, emotions, and a diverse range of creatures, which he often portrays through vibrant and expressive colour palettes. His artistic process combines meticulous planning with intuitive painting, resulting in compelling works that challenge viewers and leave a lasting impression.

Assuncao’s distinctive visual language immerses audiences in rich and imaginative worlds. Each subject inhabits its own microcosm, filled with unique emotions, relationships, and narratives. One of his greatest achievements has been the creation of a highly recognizable artistic vocabulary, an alphabet of symbols, forms, and colours that sets his work apart within the contemporary art landscape.

Since 2005, he has exhibited regularly in galleries and cultural institutions around the world. His work has received widespread recognition, earning more than sixty awards across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His artistic achievements have also been featured in over one hundred publications.

His paintings are represented in museums, as well as private and corporate collections in Norway, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Mozambique, Poland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, China, and the United States.

Filipe Assunção is an active member of several international art organizations and collectives, including NEUTRAL-ISM Art Group (Italy), ArtCan (United Kingdom), A.N. Artists Information Company (United Kingdom), UAVA – Unión de Artistas Visuales de Andalucía (Spain), IAA – International Association of Art, and AAAGP – Portugal & Galiza.
